A New Sanskrit/Vedānta Course for Beginners Starting in April

By David Stollar.

This is the fourth of these courses I have mounted at about two-year intervals. They lead, after two years, to taking the IGCSE Sanskrit exam.

Structure

We start as complete beginners by learning to read and write the beautiful Devanāgarī alphabet. Then we go on through the St James series of books, ending up by tackling the Bhagavadgītā itself, the verse set text for the IGCSE exam.

All throughout, there will be supporting videos to refer to at home should there be any moments of confusion or lapses of memory.

We do not charge for the course, although we welcome donations to our work of spreading the IGCSE Sanskrit exam across the world. All we ask from our students is the regular completion of a weekly homework assignment.

The ‘Vedānta’ part of the title refers to our ‘Epic Civilisation’ module which takes you through the cosmology, philosophy and sociology underlying the great Rāmāyaṇa and Mahābhārata epics.

Practicalities

The lessons follow the St James terms and take place at the St James building at Olympia between nine and twelve on Saturday mornings. Registration details can be found here.

I would be happy to answer any questions about the course.

Please tell your friends.
